PetsBlueprint was founded in January 2022 with a simple mission: help dog owners make smarter gear decisions without spending hours reading conflicting reviews.
Our Story
We started PetsBlueprint after one too many frustrating experiences buying dog products. Every "best of" list seemed to recommend different products, affiliate sites pushed whatever paid the highest commission, and honest reviews were buried under SEO-optimized content that said nothing useful.
So we built what we wanted to find: a site that tests products with real dogs, publishes honest opinions, and organizes recommendations into actionable bundles (we call them Blueprints) so you can stop researching and start enjoying time with your dog.
What We Do
- Gear Blueprints: Curated product bundles for specific needs — from new puppy starter kits to senior dog comfort packs. Each blueprint includes our top picks, total cost, and a detailed editorial explaining why we chose each product.
- Honest Reviews: We buy products ourselves (or test samples with no editorial strings attached), try them with real dogs, and publish what we actually think. If a product isn't worth your money, we say so.
- Training Guides: Free downloadable guides written with input from professional trainers and veterinarians. Practical, step-by-step, and designed for real-world use.
Our Process
Every product recommendation on PetsBlueprint follows the same process:
- We research 20-50 products in each category
- We narrow to 5-10 finalists based on specs, reviews, and expert input
- We test finalists with real dogs for at least 2 weeks
- We publish our honest findings, including products we don't recommend
- We update our picks regularly as products change and new options emerge
How We Make Money
PetsBlueprint earns revenue through the Amazon Associates program. When you click a product link and make a purchase on Amazon, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund our testing and keep all content free.
Importantly, affiliate commissions never influence our recommendations. We recommend the best product regardless of commission rate — and we frequently recommend products with lower commissions over higher-paying alternatives when they're genuinely better.
